Who these terms are with
Crawvix is run by [OWNER TO PROVIDE: legal entity name], at [OWNER TO PROVIDE: postal address]. In these terms "we" means that company and "you" means the person or organization using the service. How we handle personal data is in the Privacy notice.
What the service is
Crawvix runs automated checks on a website you add and explains what to fix. It gives guidance and measurements. It does not promise that any page will be indexed, ranked, or reach any score. Search engines make their own decisions, and what they do is outside our control.
Results can be wrong or incomplete. When a check cannot tell, it says "Not checked yet" and gives the reason. A passed check means it passed when we ran it. Lighthouse scores come from Google's PageSpeed Insights service and can change from run to run. Example screens on this site are labeled DEMO.
Scanning needs proof of ownership
You prove that a website is yours by one of three methods: a file on the website, a meta tag in its home page, or a DNS TXT record. Full scans, and the checks that make extra requests to the website, run only after that proof. Before it, the service may run only a small, limited look at a few pages, and checks that need ownership read "Verify ownership first". The free sample never scans a website that is not verified.
Proof of ownership is a technical step. It does not give you permission from other people who may have rights in the website.
Acceptable use
- Add and scan only websites that you own or are authorized to test.
- Do not try to get around ownership verification, plan limits, rate limits or the separation between organizations, and do not try to see another organization's data.
- Do not use the service to attack, overload or probe a website, or to collect other people's data.
- Install the error snippet only on websites you own and have verified, and mention it in your own privacy notice. Do not send fake reports to the collector.
- Keep your password and two-factor details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Our scanner identifies itself as "CrawvixBot", reads each website's robots.txt and skips the paths it disallows for our crawler.
Accounts
An account needs an email address that you confirm by a link we send. Sign-up can be closed. An account created through sign-up belongs to an organization, and the person who signs up is its owner. Only the owner can change the plan or the payment method. The Viewer role can only read. Two-factor sign-in is optional, except for administrator accounts, where it is required.
Signing in locks the account for a short time after repeated wrong passwords. This is to protect it.
Plans and limits
What each plan includes, and its price, is on the pricing page. The plans and their numbers are a draft until the owner publishes final ones. The system enforces the limits on its own servers (for example the number of websites, scans, pages per scan, scheduled scans and share links), and a request that goes over a limit is refused, whatever your browser sends. A plan that is not active cannot add websites or start scans.
Payment, cancellation and refunds
Paid plans are subscriptions. Stripe takes the payment. You type your card details into Stripe's payment form, and they do not reach our servers. Stripe shows the exact price before you pay.
The owner of an organization can open "Plan and billing", and:
- choose "Cancel at the end of the period". The plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and you can undo the cancellation before the period ends;
- change to another paid plan;
- open Stripe's billing page to update the card and download invoices.
If a payment fails, the plan keeps working for 7 days from the first failed payment. After that, scans, rechecks and new websites stop until a payment succeeds. Your data is kept.
Refunds: [OWNER TO PROVIDE: refund policy]
Free sample
A visitor can get a limited sample for a website they own, after proving ownership. It shows how many checks pass and up to three findings. Fixes, evidence, the Launch Plan, rechecks and exports need a paid plan. The sample has limits on how often it can be used, and it can be switched off.
Share links
A share link shows a frozen, read-only copy of a report to anyone who has the link, until it expires (you choose between 1 and 90 days) or you revoke it. Anyone who can read the link can read the report, so share it only with people who should see it.
When things go wrong
The service can be unavailable, and scans can fail or finish only in part. The service shows when a scan was partial. We may change, add or remove features.
No warranty and limit of liability
Warranty: [OWNER TO PROVIDE: warranty disclaimer, to be written by a lawyer]
Limit of liability: [OWNER TO PROVIDE: limitation of liability, to be written by a lawyer]
Suspension and ending
The operator of the service can switch off an organization's access, for example by ending a plan that was granted without payment, and can put the whole site behind a "coming soon" page. The service has no automatic suspension for breaking the rules. You can stop using the service at any time by cancelling your plan. The software has no button to delete an account yet (see the Privacy notice).
